National Sport Policy :2025
On 1 July, 2025 Indian Union Cabinet approve “ National Sport Policy :2025 ” .
The new policy supersedes the existing National Sports Policy, 2001, and lays out a visionary and strategic roadmap to establish India as a global sporting powerhouse and a strong contender for excellence at international sporting events, including the 2036 Olympic Games.
The NSP 2025 is the outcome of extensive consultations involving Central Ministries, NITI Aayog, State Governments, National Sports Federations (NSFs), athletes, domain experts, and public stakeholders. The policy is anchored on five key pillars.
- Excellence on the Global Stage: This is the first pillar of the NSP 2025 and objective of this pillar to built & promote world class training ,coaching and infrastructure in both rural and urban areas. And as well for boosting athletic performance , encourage the adoption of sports science in academics .
- Sports for Economic Development : In this area NSP 2025 promote sports tourism like hosting international sports event and manufacturing world class ecosystem in India and as well built infrastructure through PPP model .
- Sports for Social Development : This policy support and enhance social inclusion by promoting participation of women , SC/ST ,economical weaker section and parson with disability . And also by integration of sports with education to create more opportunity as career .
- Sports as a People’s Movement : This policy support the movement on national level and boost participation of youth in sports as well awareness about fitness . This policy also integrate sports with education .
- Integration with Education (NEP 2020) : In alignment with the National Education Policy 2020, the NSP 2025 proposes to integrate sports into school curricula. And also equip educators and physical education teachers with specialized training to promote sports education and awareness.
- Strategic Framework: To realise its objectives, the NSP 2025 lays down a comprehensive implementation strategy encompassing:
- Governance: Establish a robust regulatory framework for sports governance, including legal framework.
- Private Sector Funding & support: Develop innovative financing mechanisms and engage private sector participation through PPPs and CSR.
- Technology & Innovation: Leverage emerging technologies, including AI and data analytics, for performance tracking, research, and program implementation.
- National Monitoring Framework:Create a national framework with well-defined benchmarks, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and time-bound targets.
- Model Policy for States:The NSP 2025 will serve as a model for States and Union Territories, encouraging them to revise or formulate their own policies in alignment with national objectives.
- Whole-of-Government Approach:The policy calls for integration of sports promotion into the activities, schemes, and programs of all Ministries and Departments to achieve a holistic impact.
Neeraj Chopra (NC) Classic Award 2025

Indian Javelin throw star and two time Olympic Medal winner Neeraj Chopra again create the history and won NC Classic Award 2025,on 6 July .
Neeraj Chopra threw 86.18M in his third attempt , he defeated Keyna’s Julius Yego (84.51M ) and Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage (84.34 M )at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.
About NC Classic :
“ NC CLASSIC ” is the India’s first international javelin throw event held on 5 July,2025 in Bengaluru and it was recognized by World Athletics .
The term ‘NC Classic’ specially refer to the Neeraj Chopra’s name for celebrating excellence in the javelin throw and honors Neeraj Chopra’s contribution to sport.
Conclusion : The main objective of National Sports Policy 2025 is to promoting sports as a career, like other professional courses and also creating the faith in Indian society & children’s guardian by integrating with education policy 2020. Also this sports policy clarify the country’s vision about sports like hosting “NC Classic Javelin tournament 2025 ” and upcoming Olympic 2036 (Olympic 2036 can be hosted by India). This sports policy can be milestone for Indian sports and also Indian sports players shine in Olympic 2036 .
